PSV chief Gerbrands defends Propper sale to Brighton

PSV Eindhoven chief Toon Gerbrands insists they did good business selling Davy Propper to Brighton.

Fans have accused the board of cashing in on Propper only due to their elimination from the Europa League.

It's been claimed they needed to cover a €5m debt, which has now been achieved through Propper's sale.

But Gerbrands insists: "There is no relation between the transfer and the elimination from the Europa League.

"At PSV we have the intention to always talk to a club as soon as a major offer is made. The transfer of Propper was done even if we'd won 3-0 against Osijek.

"When making a budget, we always assume that we reach the Europa League group phase, which due to the elimination is worth approximately five million euros."
