PSG veteran Daniel Alves has spoken of turning down Manchester City last season.

Alves, when choosing to leave Juventus, in the end decided to sign for PSG ahead of the Premier League champs.

He explained: "Everything was done to go to Manchester City, but it did not happen because of a family decision. Pep (Guardiola) knew my intentions. I spoke with him, he knew my desire to work with him and his staff again. He knows all the respect I have for them, that's why I wanted to work with him again, until something appears.

"In life, you have to weigh everything, even when it comes to making decisions about your career. I like that my decisions are taken carefully, so as not to harm my loved ones, and that people close to me are happy. I know that if people close to me are happy, I am happy and I can work better.

"For me, it's a shame not to work again with Guardiola because he knows that I love him, but at the same time..."
