Stoke City defender Ryan Shawcross believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic ruined his England career.

Shawcross made his debut for the England national team back in November 2012 against Sweden but the defender has not featured since following a disastrous 15 minutes where the Three Lions conceded three goals during his time on the pitch.

It was Paris Saint-Germain star Ibrahimovic who tortured Shawcross on the day by helping himself to a stunning hat-trick, including an outrageous overhead volley from range, and the Stoke defender has now jokingly stated that the Swedish great effectively ruined his England career in a quarter of an hour.

Shawcross said: "I'm the butt of the joke in my family just because the 15 minutes I had in international football was ruined by one man.

"They are consistently saying that Zlatan ruined my career! But I don't think many other defenders have stopped him."
