PSG signing Messi tells Barcelona fans: They knew I'd join competitive club

PSG signing Lionel Messi had a message for Barcelona fans at his presentation today.

The Argentine great has signed a two-year contract with PSG and was presented to the local media today.

Messi said: "Before I left, I told Barca fans, I will always be grateful. It was my home, I have been through so much. They knew I was going to sign for a competitive club because they know that I love to win, that I am a winner and I want to achieve goals.

"Paris has these objectives to always win. I do not know if we are going to face each other with Barça, it would be nice, with the public I hope, but it would also be weird to play at home with another shirt. But it's football, we'll see."

Messi says he also is looking forward to playing with Marco Verratti.

He stated: “No doubt, he has proven that he is a great player, one of the best in the world at his post. At FC Barcelona we wanted to recruit him for many years, now it's the opposite, it's me who comes here to play with him. He's a phenomenon, I've known him as a person too, he's a really good guy.

"The dressing room, there are the best in the world, the squad is huge, I hope to be able to help and achieve the club's goals and my personal goals."
