Paul Lambert wants everyone to forget about the penalty incident that involved loanee Jese, as he battles to try and keep Stoke in the Premier League.
Lambert is new to the club himself, and he does not want that penalty incident to define the loan spell for Jese at the club.
The Stoke manager said:"He's playing a bit of catch up, Jesé, but in the 20 minutes he came on last Saturday he offered us something different. I don't think he's near the match level of fitness I need, right at the minute, but he provides that bit of spark and magic that can unlock defences. I thought his contribution against Brighton was pretty decent.
"He's got a key role to play, definitely he has. The sad thing is that he's had his problems away from the ground. Hopefully that is better now and we can start getting him fitter than what he is."
