PSG great Fernandez: I'm so happy for Pochettino; I liked his Spurs team

PSG great Luis Fernandez has welcomed the appointment of new coach Mauricio Pochettino.

Like Pochettino, Fernandez is a former player and coach of PSG.

He told RMC of the former Tottenham and Southampton manager: "I had the opportunity to work with him, to have him under my command at PSG (between 2001 and 2003) and at EspanyolBarcelona (in 2004).

"I had a good relationship with him. He was an outstanding teammate with a remarkable state of mind. I also followed his career as a trainer, he did great things, not always with great resources. I observed his teams. I liked seeing him reach the Champions League final with Tottenham (in 2019), I'm happy to see him reach PSG.

"It's up to him to impose his hand, to please the supporters. He has stature, he imposes with his charisma. I knew he wasn't going to disappoint me. I know him, he's someone who adapts. He will take the temperature, he is not there to revolutionise everything but to take over a club that he knows well and that he loves.

"He loves PSG, he always made it known. He will have this desire to win titles and go for the Champions League, he is a competitor. He was already on the field. It's up to him to take his marks and set up his own style."
