Manchester United and Manchester City are going head-to-head for AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer.

The 22-year-old Algerian has impressed for the Italian giants in Serie A this season, making 21 starts in his first year at the San Siro. He joined for around £14million at the start of the campaign from Empoli after a standout two years as he helped them win promotion from Serie B.

Both United and City are 'following the matter', joining PSG in the chase, and are simply waiting for the green light to make their move, reports Algerian outlet Competition.

PSG made an opening offer of £35m for Bennacer, with Milan rebuffing their attempts, but adds that any club who makes a bid of around £45m would give them 'food for thought'.
