PSG ace Neymar insists he didn't leave Barcelona in order to win the Ballon d'Or.

It's long been suggested Neymar quit Barca to get out of the shadow of Lionel Messi.

But he told France Football: "No, I did not leave Barça to become the best player in the world, nor to win the Ballon d'Or.

"I left because I wanted new goals. Nothing to do with wanting to win the Ballon d'Or or not wanting to be in the same club as Messi.

"It was an honor to play with him. He is my friend and I will always love him."
