PSG ace Mbappe admits Liverpool transfer talks: Mum's a fan!

Kylian Mbappe has confirmed that he held transfer talks with Liverpool before deciding to stay with PSG this summer.

Mbappe signed a new three-year deal with the French club at the weekend after snubbing Real Madrid to stay in Paris in what became one of the biggest transfer sagas in recent memory.

Real Madrid were confident that a deal would be agreed and reports broke last week that he had even agreed personal terms at the club. Liverpool had also been strongly linked with Mbappe and the forward has revealed that he did consider a move to Anfield, before deciding to u-turn and remain at PSG.

"We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit," Mbappe told The Telegraph. The French international added that Liverpool actually had a stronger chance of signing him when he decided to leave Monaco before he joined PSG in 2017 aged 18.

Mbappe said: "I talked to Liverpool because it's the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don't know why, you will have to ask her! It's a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It's a big club."

The Frenchman added on his latest transfer saga: “Of course, it was between Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the end.

“Everybody knows I wanted to leave for Real Madrid last year and I think it was a good choice to leave last year. But now it's different because I was a free agent.

“I was a free agent and it was important to give back to my country. If I had left I would have left as a great player but there is a sentimental part. I don't think my chapter is closed. Things were not over for me at PSG."
