Preston wrapping up deal for Shamrock Rovers striker Burke

Preston North End have handed Irish striker Graham Burke a return to English football.

The Mirror says Burke is understood to be close to signing for Preston.

The Shamrock Rovers striker was recently called up to the Republic of Ireland senior team and scored in Saturday's 2-1 win over the USA.

It is believed the Dublin side will receive in the region of €300,000 for the 24-year-old, who joined the Tallaght club at the start of the 2017 season after spells with Aston Villa and Notts County. A Preston club advisor is understood to have watched Burke play in Saturday's match at the Aviva Stadium.

He will join fellow Irish players Sean Maguire, Greg Cunningham, Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne, Eoin Doyle, Kevin O'Connor, Adam O'Reilly and Andy Boyle at the Lancashire club. Maguire signed a new three-year deal with Preston on Wednesday.
