Preston North End midfielder Ben Pearson is being lined up for a return to the Premier League.

The Daily Mail says Burnley are looking at Pearson, who began his career at Manchester United before moving to Deepdale in 2016.

Pearson, 23, has been a driving force behind North End's surprise challenge for promotion from The Championship where they currently stand ninth, three points of a playoff spot.

A potential move from Burnley would follow a trend previously set by the Turf Moor club.

In recent seasons Sean Dyche's side have taken on the likes of Chris Eagles and Michael Keane, both highly rated talents from the United set-up.
