Preston boss Lowe pushed about Aston Villa striker Archer

Preston North End boss Ryan Lowe did not want to reveal too much regarding a move for Aston Villa striker Cameron Archer.

The 21-year-old impressed at the Deepdale Stadium club during the second part of last season.

He netted seven goals in 18 starts, and may move back for regular first team football.

Speaking to LancsLive, Lowe stated: "I don't know. Well, he wouldn't give me him so no [regarding the sacking of Steven Gerrard at Villa impacting a move].

"But no, I think it's unfair to talk about it. We know what Cam brings and once we've heard he's available, then I am sure the communication can start.

"We've just got to keep tight lips if you like and we'll get on with our business. Cam is not the only target, of course.

“We have to make sure we do the right things by them and sometimes it's unfair to talk about other players. Whether it's been given the green light yet or not, we've got to be tight lipped on it."
