Tottenham loanee Bongani Khumalo is being tipped by Preston boss Phil Brown to play a key role in North End's bid to remain in the Championship. He joined Spurs in January for £1.5million from Supersport United following a successful spell on trial but has yet to play for Harry Redknapp's side.
Brown told the club's official website: "For a club in our situation, fighting a relegation battle at the bottom of the Championship, to get an international player from Spurs stinks of the quality of the relationship with Tottenham and more importantly my relationship with Harry.
"He has done us a massive favour letting us borrow a player of Bongani's quality and stature who has come to us on loan until the end of the season.
"He's a big lad, he's a quick central defender and with the right type of coaching and the right type of mentality and approach to the games, hopefully he'll be a massive success at Preston North End."
