Premiership club in talks with Zarate

Boca Juniors and an unnamed English club are chasing Argentinian striker Mauro Zarate.

The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell with Birmingham last season, although he was unable to prevent the Blues dropping out of the Premier League.

Four goals, coupled with flashes of brilliance, helped him catch the eye and a summer battle for his signature has come as no surprise.

A return to his homeland with Boca is likely to appeal, with the Argentinian giants seeing him as the ideal replacement for the Lazio-bound Rodrigo Palacio.

However, Zarate's brother, who also doubles as one of his agents, revealed that Boca are yet to make a move and are in danger of being surpassed by a Premier League side.

"I have not received a call from any Boca official yet," Sergio Zarate told Clarin.

"We have a possible offer from an English club and we want to sort things out this week."
