Newcastle are keeping tabs on the midfielder's situation.

Portuguese reports state West Ham and Everton are also interested.

Because of his contract situation, the report suggests Porto will allow him to leave in January for just £5m, with a number of clubs across Europe interested.

The 28-year-old has two goals in nine games so far this season.
