Premier League players to consult captains over training fears

The Premier League players who are unsure about returning to training during the COVID-19 pandemic will speak with their club captains.

There are suggestions about some players not being impressed with the idea of play resuming in mid-June.

But some players are eager to start training and resume some part of their normal life.

Sky Sports reports that players will have conversations with club captains in the coming 24 hours before they make final decisions about whether to report back to team training next week.

The Premier League will have a shareholders' meeting on Monday that could determine a possible starting date for games.

The first step in any resumption is full on team training, not only the individual sessions that some players have been performing at club facilities these days.

"Some of our players don't want to come back but the majority will," one senior executive at a Premier League club said.

"They're going to play again in Germany so there's no reason why we can't try to as well."
