Arsenal and Manchester United played out a 0-0 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
A fairly scrappy affair produced both early and late chances for both sides as David Moyes' United frustrated Arsene Wenger's Gunners in north London.
It was almost a disastrous beginning for Arsenal when Mikel Arteta was dispossessed close to goal inside three minutes but former Gunners skipper Robin van Persie missed a one-on-one opportunity with Wojciech Szczesny.
Arsenal then had one of their best chances on the hour-mark when Laurent Koscielny's header was cleared off the line by Antonio Valencia.
Olivier Giroud was inches away from meeting a Bacary Sagna cross from the right in the 76th minute before Szczesny came up with the save of the match when he tipped van Persie's angled header, from a pinpoint Wayne Rooney chip, onto the crossbar.
United keeper David de Gea then produced a quality save of his own, getting down to his right to keep out Santi Cazorla, before he again snubbed out the efforts of the Spaniard.
The clean sheet would have been welcomed by Wenger following the 5-1 demolition at Liverpool on the weekend but the draw was not ideal as they missed a chance to go clear of league leaders Chelsea.
For United, they remain seventh on the table but are now eight points off fifth-placed Tottenham after they easily beat Newcastle United away.
