​Premier League increases social media engagement with less posts

A new study has found that the Premier League increased its year on year social media engagement by 146 per cent during the first quarter of 2020, despite posting less content, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The findings, due to be published in Conviva's 2020 Q1 State of Streaming report, show the volume of cross-platform content has been significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Overall, the Premier League published three per cent fewer posts during Q1 this year compared to 2019, but garnered 142 per cent more views from a 13 per cent increase in published video content.

At club level Liverpool dominated almost all social platforms in terms of engagement in the Premier League during Q1, while Manchester United were the most popular club on Facebook.
