PREMIER LEAGUE: Bent double earns Villa share of the spoils at Everton

Aston Villa collected a valuable point in their battle against the drop with a 2-2 draw at Everton. Everton have now gone ten league games since they last beat Villa but seemed to be on their way as Leon Osman put them ahead just before the break.

But leading scorer Darren Bent restored parity for the visitor's two minutes into the second half and then put Villa ahead on 68 minutes.

Moments before this Jermaine Beckford thought he had restored the Toffees lead but the officials ruled the ball had not crossed the line after hitting the crossbar.

But Everton got the draw they deserved in an entertaining encounter when Jean Makoun brought down Phil Jagielka in the box and Leighton Baines made no mistake.
