Portsmouth to remain quiet on the transfer front

Portsmouth executive chairman Peter Storrie has admitted that even the impending takeover of the club by Sulaiman Al Fahim's will not act as a spur to enter the transfer market. Storrie confirmed to the Portsmouth News, "Al Fahim wants to get the deal done as quickly as possible. We all do. He's a nice guy who wants so much for the club and I know will do a lot for it - the fans can be assured of that.

"But he is not going to spend, spend, spend immediately on players. We are not in a rush. We are not going to splash out £40, 50, 60 million this summer," he warned. "Instead, he wants to spend money over the next couple of years.

"It's not just the playing side which interests him, he is very much interested in the academy, in the study centre, in the community office, every aspect of the club.

"It is going to take time, he is in this for the long haul, believe me."
