Portsmouth pay penalty at Stoke

Portsmouth remain bottom of the Premiership as they went down 1-0 at Stoke having missed an early penalty to take the lead. Stoke made Pompey for their profligacy when Ricardo Fuller scored the winner with 14 minutes remaining.

The strike and move leading up to the goal was in complete contrast to what had gone before.

A fine flowing move ended with Fuller curling a fine shot past substitute keeper Jamie Ashdown.

The visitor's had looked the more threatening and had the perfect chance after only eight minutes.

However, Kevin-Prince Boateng saw his tame spot-kick for Pompey easily saved by keeper Thomas Sorensen after Rory Delap's foul on Aruna Dindane.

Despite a lot of good possession Pompey could not turn that threat into goals and suffered their 10 defeat of the campaign as a result.
