Asmir Begovic will not be sold during the January transfer window, insists Portsmouth chief executive Peter Storrie. The Bosnian keeper has attracted rave reviews of late after ably deputising for the injured David James.
Portsmouth are known to be struggling financially and sales are expected in the New Year to help balance the books.
Storrie told The News: "It's absolute rubbish that Asmir will be leaving us. We haven't even heard anything from Spurs.
"This lad is the future of this football club and he can go on and on.
"We've all been impressed with him. He's done fantastic since he's come into the side and I hope it continues.
"I think you have got to give full credit to Dave Coles, who has nurtured him for a long time.
"And we are definitely not looking to sell Asmir."
