Portsmouth not expecting fire for Redknapp return

Portsmouth officials are not expecting the return of former boss Harry Redknapp to cause crowd disruptions.

Tottenham meet Pompey at Fratton Park this weekend marking the first time Redknapp has returned to the south coast since quitting the club a year ago to take over at White Hart Lane.

Despite this, Portsmouth director of communications Gary Double expects a things to run smoothly.

"There have been discussions between the two clubs already and there will be more in the next few days, but we understand Tottenham are making their own arrangements," Double said.

"It is common practice now for clubs to travel with their own stewards, more often in respect of monitoring away fans than the team and manager, and this will be no different.

"Although one or two feelings may run high, our supporters have an excellent record of behaviour at home games and we do not expect them to cross any boundaries on Saturday.

"They showed exemplary restraint last season, when Sol Campbell was the target of unpleasant abuse from Spurs fans, and we are confident they will continue to get behind their own team."
