Portsmouth are about to scrap their interest in Tottenham defender Kyle Naughton.
Pompey are keen on a loan deal for the England U21 international and have been in talks with Spurs for three weeks, indicating that the London club are not too sure of the idea.
But Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill is desperate for something to happen ahead of the midweek clash with Crystal Palace.
"Kyle is definitely somebody we are hot on and we have spoken to him and very much he is keen to come," he said.
"I think perhaps Tottenham want him to sign a new contract before he comes out and if I am honest that might be the small stumbling block at the moment.
"So at the moment, I don't know if anyone will come in before Palace."
