Portsmouth veteran Sol Campbell is set to be handed a new contract.
The Sunday Mirror says new owner Sulaiman Al Fahim is ready to hand captain Campbell an extension to his £100,000-a-week Fratton Park contract.
Former Arsenal and England defender Campbell, fourth on the list for most Premier League appearances, was expecting to be let go if Alexandre Gaydamak stayed at the helm.
Campbell, 35 in September, has already opened talks with Swiss side Basle.
But he said: "I believe that I can still play at the highest level for another couple of years."
