Portsmouth chairman undecided on resignation question

Sulaiman al-Fahim has revealed he will decide this week whether to resign from his position as Portsmouth chairman or invest more money in the club. Portsmouth are on the brink of going out of business as they struggle to pay off their mounting debts which are believed to be more than £60million.

The Fratton Park outfit are hopeful a mystery South African group will complete a proposed takeover to save the club. Al-Fahim, who still holds the position as chairman despite selling 90% of his stake in the club, admits he is receiving different advice on what to do at the club.

"One team is advising me to resign to avoid any legal actions against directors in case the club goes into administration and the other team is advising me to buy more shares in the club," Al-Fahim told Reuters.

"My lawyer and financial adviser want me to resign, but I will make a decision on Monday."
