Portsmouth boss Grant remains angry with Premier League over transfer ban delay

Portsmouth boss Avram Grant remains frustrated with Premier League powerbrokers over their delays on lifting the club's transfer embargo.

It was announced last week that Grant would finally be allowed to strengthen his squad, although he could only sign players on loan.

He tried his best to bring in reinforcements to aid the club's relegation fight ahead of the window shutting but found that time was against him.

And Grant has now hit out at the Premier League, saying in his opinion Portsmouth should have had the whole month to do business.

"I know the Premier League didn't create the problems, but also the supporters didn't create the problems, the players didn't create the problems and I didn't create the problems," he said on Sky Sports News.

"Everybody needs to take responsibility.

"The Premier League needed to leave the transfer embargo until the end if they think we didn't deserve it to be lifted or, as I think, give us an equal chance in the transfer window like every other team and then make a decision at the end of the season."

The fact that he was not allowed to try and buy players also angered Grant, although he admits it would have been difficult for the club.

"To lift the embargo three days before the deadline, only for loan players, it is not serious," he said.

"We tried to do our best and bring in some players but we didn't succeed."
