Portsmouth administrator Andrew Andronikou says Kevin-Prince Boateng was set for a big money Bundesliga move before his FA Cup final tackle on Chelsea's Michael Ballack.
Now unnamed clubs from Italy and Spain are the only ones to have enquired about the 23-year-old.
And Andronikou told The News he doesn't expect any German suitors to return.
He said: "Boateng was being hawked around Germany - and it has since cooled after that particular tackle. We had a meeting with two German clubs before the Cup final. Well, they are not ringing any more.
"I certainly believe that is down to Boateng's tackle.
"Football is governed by emotion and opinion and that can change overnight. It seems to have happened with this player. I remember quite vividly when he first came to me talking about supposed interest in moving back to Germany a few months ago.
"That has certainly changed from his point of view - and it would appear from German clubs."
