TikTok branding will appear on soccer shirts for the first time after the short-form video platform agreed a multi-year deal to become the sleeve sponsor of the Portland Timbers and Portland Thorns, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/
The TikTok logo will adorn the right sleeve of Timbers and Thorns shirts during their respective Major League Soccer (MLS) and National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) games, while it will also feature on authentic jerseys and other retail merchandise.
In addition, TikTok's branding will be prominently featured in numerous club areas, on virtual signage at Providence Park and on the digital platforms for both teams.
To mark the partnership, both the Timbers and the Thorn have launched an official TikTok account, which will push out weekly content including highlights, behind-the-scenes footage and fan reactions. Star players such as Thorns midfielder Crystal Dunn and Eryk Williamson of the Timbers will also create exclusive content for the platform.
As part of the deal, TikTok has committed to working with the Timbers' Stand Together initiative to ensure that a portion of the proceeds from each jersey sold is donated to a non-profit organisation in the Portland area.
In addition to being TikTok's inaugural soccer team partnerships stateside, the agreement is also the first joint patch sponsorship of a professional men's and women's soccer team in the US.
