Port Vale have signed midfielder Marc Laird from Manchester City on a month-long loan deal.

The 21-year-old Scot, who is yet to figure in City's first team, becomes boss Lee Sinnott's first signing since he took over on Monday.

"I am really looking forward to it," Laird told the club's official website. "Port Vale are a big club and I hope to do well here, impress the new manager and help the team climb the table.

"I like to get the ball down and play, and use my energy to get around the pitch. I like to pass the ball so hopefully I can set up a few goals.

"It's a big opportunity for me to do well."
