Port Vale boss Adams in line for new contract talks

Port Vale will sit down with Micky Adams over the next two weeks as they look to thrash out a contract extension. Adams arrived at Vale Park last June after the Burslem outfit finished a disappointing 18th in England's fourth tier in 2008/09, signing a one-year deal.

But with his impact almost immediate, Adams was quickly offered a two-year extension just five months later before guiding Vale to the fringes of the play-off places in his first season at the helm.

And after a superb start to this campaign, with the Valiants currently second in the table, chairman Bill Bratt has spoken of the desire to get Adams back around the table for more contract talks.

"We spoke to Micky last week and said we would like to sit down with him to discuss extending his contract," Bratt told The Sentinel. "We hope those discussions will take place over the next fortnight.

"We believe he's the right manager for this club and can help us get back up the leagues. Micky has proved what he can do and I'm fairly certain he will get us promoted this year. He'll be very unlucky if he doesn't. So we need to keep him and I think all the fans will agree with that."
