Poor defending cost Celtic – Deila

Celtic manager Ronny Deila was critical of his defence following the 2-2 draw with Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday night.

The Hoops twice led the encounter through goals from Leigh Griffiths and Nir Britton, but eventually managed to secure just a point.

Josh Magennis scored just before half-time for Killie and Kallum Higginbotham secured a point for the club when he cheekily dinked home a penalty two minutes from time.

Deila said of the result: "I am disappointed of course.

"We should have scored more goals, but I am very disappointed that we were sloppy in defence.

"It was like that against Partick Thistle in the second half and we continued that today and we got punished.

"They got four or five chances and that is more than the other teams have had in 10 games.

"So we deserved to get punished when we don't score goals and are so sloppy.

"Everything starts with good defence, that is why we have had so many good results - and we have to be back on track on Saturday."

Celtic now have two wins and a draw from their three opening SPL fixtures of the 2015/16 season which has them sitting second on the table behind Heart of Midlothian.
