Pondeljak signs contract extension with Melbourne Victory

Tom Pondeljak has signed a new deal with reigning A-League champions Melbourne Victory. The 33-year old, who scored the winning goal in last season's Grand Final, has signed on for a further season in a major boost for the club.

Pondeljak joined the Victory from the Central Coast Mariners in February 2008 and was delighted to get another year with his hometown club.

"I signed the new contract the other day and was very pleased and very happy that I could keep playing for the Victory,'' Pondeljak said today.

"I'm feeling great, I'm feeling good and I hope that can continue.

"The Victory obviously showed a lot of confidence in me to get me back here and I was more than happy to come back home, so it's worked out well.''

The midfielder is currently out of action with a calf strain he has had for the past five weeks but could be set for a return against Gold Coast United this weekend.
