Pollitt delighted with Wigan deal

Mike Pollitt is pleased with his new one-year contract extension at Wigan Athletic.

Pollitt told the Manchester Evening News: "I love being at Wigan and I also love being involved within The Premier League.

"I'd naturally have liked to have played more games last season, but it wasn't to be yet it's still great to be involved at this level and good to keep working hard."

He added: "I enjoy working every day with Chris Kirkland, we get on very well together. Carlo Nash has returned from Stoke and we enjoy one another's company and keep each other on our toes.

"Chris did extremely well in the second half of last season. He really seemed to kick on when Steve Bruce came in. He works very hard and he turned in some fantastic performances, notably against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

"I think he enjoys me pushing him along, he is certainly a top-class keeper and it's just great to be within the set-up.

"I think we can look forward to another good season because we certainly look strong and organised as a unit under Steve Bruce."
