Manchester United into the EFL Cup quarter-finals thanks to a 3-0 victory over Brighton on Wednesday.
United needed a dramatic late penalty to beat Brighton in the Premier League on Saturday, but it was a far less intense affair on the AMEX in the knockout competition.
Scott McTominay put the visitors ahead when he head home Juan Mata's free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
Donny van de Beek set-up Mata to make it 2-0 with seventeen minutes left, before substitute Paul Pogba found the top corner with a free-kick to seal United's passage into the quarter-finals.
Speaking after the game, Mata was delighted with his contribution to the victory and hopes the club can win this season's Carabao Cup.
The Spaniard said: "It means a trophy. We want to lift trophies for our fans. We want to do it again. We try to win every game. This is different this year with the early stage.
"I feel good physically and mentally and have a passion for the game. I have a lot of football left in my legs and my mind."
