Pochettino: Spurs dropped confidence after Liverpool loss

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino admits his side have lost confidence since losing to Liverpool on the weekend.

Spurs put in one of their most timid performances when losing 2-0 at Anfield on Saturday and it appears to have affected their overall assuredness, evidenced by tonight's 1-0 loss to Gent in the Europa League Round of 32 first leg.

Prior to the defeat to Liverpool, and subsequently Belgium's eighth-placed team, Spurs had gone 11 matches without defeat which suggests to Pochettino that their confidence has decreased since the visit to Merseyside.

"Until the Liverpool game we were having a good run," he told BT Sport.

"We were 11 (without loss), but sometimes, it happened after Liverpool, it's true our confidence dropped a little bit.

"Today was a different competition, we try to win the game, we try to find a way to score goals.

"It wasn't our best game, we created enough chances, but we cannot score."

Spurs next meet Fulham in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Craven Cottage on Sunday before hosting Gent at Wembley in the return bout next Thursday.
