Pochettino not giving up hope as Tottenham falter in title pursuit

Mauricio Pochettino was retaining a positive outlook after his Tottenham Hotspur side failed to beat West Bromwich Albion on Monday night.

Spurs drew 1-1 with the Baggies at White Hart Lane to see their Premier League title hopes slip away.

The North London club now sit seven points behind Leicester City with three matches remaining, making it difficult to bridge the gap in that time, but Pochettino was not preparing to throw in the towel as he gets his players ready for Monday night's short trip to Chelsea.

The title race could be over by then as Leicester take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and a win will seal the premiership for Claudio Ranieri's men but Pochettino was remaining defiant in the wake of the Albion draw.

"We still need to believe. Seven points is difficult but we still need to fight in the next three games," said the Argentine.

"Mathematically it is still possible. I have nothing to complain about and we need to be strong in our mind and prepare for the next game. It is difficult but we need to fight for the points.

"We are not going to give up.

"We understand it was a game we must win. I must now lift the players for the game against Chelsea."

Baggies defender Craig Dawson conceded an own-goal in the 33rd minute before making amends for his error by heading home Craig Gardner's corner 40 minutes later to deny Tottenham's hopes of moving within five points of the Foxes.
