Pochettino denies waiting for Guardiola to leave Man City: Not pretty to hear

Sacked Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino says he's unaware of rumours linking him with Manchester City.

In the English press, Pochettino has been mentioned as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola, with it suggested he is waiting for the Catalan to walk away.

But the Argentine, who lost his job at Spurs on November 19, admits he's in the dark over the rumours. Indeed, Pochettino admits he's not happy with his name being linked to a club which already has a manager in place.

Pochettino explained to Marca: "I don't read the Press a lot, Jesús Pérez - my assistant - informs me of things, but I didn't read anything before, when I was on a bench, and now neither.

"And I tell him that when you're working it's not pretty hearing that others can take your place. We know the rules, but it is not pretty. I am oblivious to the rumours."

However, while insisting he's not about to tout himself for any rival's job, Pochettino has confirmed he's ready to talk about an immediate return to management.

Having spent some time at home in Argentina, Pochettino says he and assistant coach Jesus Perez are now ready jump back into the action. Though as mentioned, he's wary of putting any pressure on his peers already in work.

He continued, "If anyone wants something, we are open to any proposition, without vetoing anyone. Our priority is to have that energy again to accept a new challenge and be able to do my best."
