Pochettino battling to juggle Tottenham squad ahead of Europa/League Cup double

Mauricio Pochettino admits it has been quite a task attempting to manage his Tottenham players in the lead-up to a vital double-header.

Spurs take on Italian club Fiorentina in the Europa League Round of 32 second leg on Thursday night before suiting up at Wembley for the Capital One Cup final against London rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

Pochettino has been very mindful of the pair of vital encounters and says it has been difficult trying rest certain players and give others enough game time to be fully prepared for action.

"The problem is that the decision always becomes about the result you get," the Argentine said.

"If tomorrow I rotate and then we win on Sunday I'm a genius. I may rest some players and play others and win against Chelsea in the final.

"But if we lose tomorrow and lose in the final, I am a very bad manager and I don't think that's fair.

"When you take a decision, sometimes you are right or wrong - this is all football. But afterwards I'm still the same manager; the same coach.

"The most important thing is to be clear; to analyse and identify that tomorrow is our first final. We need to decide the team after we analyse every case and every player and then afterwards it's about who is in full recovery and fully fit.

"We will try to win tomorrow and play better than Fiorentina and, after, analyse the game and try to put the best team out for the final on Sunday."

Tottenham took on Fiorentina in the first leg at White Hart Lane last week for a 1-1 draw ahead of the return bout in Florence tomorrow.
