SILENCE ON KEWELL'S TELLING COMMENTS Fantastic interview by Mark Bosnich with Harry Kewell last week on Fox Football. The revelation that Kewell believed Jim Magilton deserved the long-term job at Melbourne Victory, that he had plenty to offer the club and enjoyed working with the former QPR manager deserved greater coverage. But it really showed where the reportage of local soccer is when the opinion of our most successful player doesn't warrant a mention by any pundit in the media - all because it doesn't fit with their agenda. Kewell simply confirmed what we could all see. He enjoyed working with Magilton, he could see the direction the coach was taking the squad and was excited about it. This deserved greater debate. Yet the reaction was zero, nothing. Instead of respecting the view of someone who had pulled on the shirts of Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray and regarded as our one genuine superstar, it's completely blanked by the elitist, soccer clique. Really, what chance have we got?

ANGE, WHY SWAP ROAR FOR VICTORY SHAMBLES?I don't understand Ange Postecoglou wanting to jump ship at Brisbane Roar to join Melbourne Victory. It's going to be a slow start. He must know this. At Brisbane Roar and before that at South Melbourne, they were calling for his head in the first months of both jobs. But on those two occasions, he was protected by a strong board and went onto enjoy great success. Can he really be sure of receiving the same backing from this lot at Victory? To get the team playing as he wants, it's not going to happen overnight. The pressure will be intense. How sure can Postecoglou be that he won't be treated the same way as Magilton, Merrick and Durakovic?And what about the opportunities Roar are offering him? Expansion into Indonesia? He can write his own ticket. Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid have all been trying to get a foothold into the Indonesian market over the last 12 months. Its potential is massive. The commercial opportunities for someone working hands-on to improve standards across the nation are unimaginable. Then there's challenge of actually making an imprint on the Champions League.So much to achieve - why blank it for Victory?

QUIET MILLER OFFERS GLORY GF HOPEAbsolutely delighted for Perth Glory. The spirit, the desire, the courage, it was all there on Saturday - as it has been throughout the finals.It was closer than expected, but going to the champions, coming from behind and knocking them out on a penalty shootout - its a great achievement for Fergie and his players. That they did it without Liam Miller on top of his game offers some hope going to Brisbane. Surely he still has one performance left in him for the biggest stage of all. Brisbane are overwhelming favourites, but Glory have players who can hurt them. As the Mariners proved last week, the Roar can be rattled and the work of Smeltz and Mehmet defending from the front could be an unexpected weapon for the visitors on the big day.

NO SURPRISE TINKLER UPSET WITH FOOTBALLI really hate the line pedaled by critics of Clive Palmer and Nathan Tinkler: they're billionaires, they can afford to lose a couple of million on a football team. WRONG! These guys didn't become successful running businesses bleeding money. There is something fundamentally wrong with the FFA's relationship with A-League club owners for us to lose two of the most successful businessmen in the country. Even Tony Sage threatened to hand back Perth Glory's licence before Christmas. The clique needs to get their head around the fact our sport isn't commercially competitive with the other football codes. We can't hope to have the membership model of the AFL, which is largely supported by an incredible TV deal. Instead, we NEED people like Palmer and Tinkler and rather that they should compromise, the A-League needs to be prepared to go further to help them run their respective clubs.Can we really blame Tinkler for being ticked off about being let down by the FFA over the price of his licence and then by his own football department with the Jason Culina fiasco? No wonder he's upset with the game!

Tim Cahill said his penalty save at Blackburn Rovers was a "great moment for football" and as disappointed he was for Everton, he wouldn't begrudge his Aussie teammate this moment."People have said to me, maybe it's fate that I should get the chance to dedicate ­something like this to Luca," Jones said at the final whistle.
