Miralem Pjanic has jumped to the defence of Roma teammate Edin Dzeko after their 1-1 draw with Hellas Verona.

Dzeko turned in a scattergun performance.

Pjanic said, “The team is behind him, we try to give him the service to score and he gives it his all. These periods happen for a striker, it's always difficult to emerge from it, but he has been determined to win since he arrived and works really hard.

“Naturally he expects a goal, but we'll keep supporting him all the way, as he is important to us."
