Pires: Salah form hurting Liverpool compared to Aguero and Man City

Arsenal hero Robert Pires says Mohamed Salah's inconsistency has left Liverpool trailing Manchester City when compared with Sergio Aguero.

Salah has only managed to score one goal against top six opposition this season, a penalty against Arsenal in a 5-1 victory.

Meanwhile Sergio Aguero, who is Manchester City's all-time record scorer, has notched eight times this season against the so-called big teams.

Those goals include hat-tricks against both Arsenal and Chelsea.

“I think the race to the golden boot is between Salah and [Sergio] Aguero," he told Bwin.

“Salah has had another great season and maybe proved a few people wrong who thought he wouldn't be able to repeat last year's performances.

“He has played a slightly different role this season where he has often been more of a striker than a winger so the pressure is on to score goals and he has delivered.

“I think you'd have to say that Aguero has made much more of an impact against the top-six teams.

"There's no doubt Salah is one of the best players in the Premier League."
