Robert Pires is backing former Arsenal teammate Thierry Henry for success as AS Monaco coach.
Henry was confirmed as manager of the Ligue 1 side on Saturday morning, handing him his first senior role in the dugout.
He previously worked as assistant manager under Roberto Martinez for Belgium, aiding their progress to the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia.
Pires, speaking at the 2nd Teqball World Cup in Reims, said: "This is a difficult question because this is new for Titi. Nobody knows, even him, what he can do as a manager.
"With Thierry you need passion, it is an important thing for him. He needs to talk to the players about the tactics on the field.
"It is important he has learnt a lot with Roberto Martinez and when he used to play with Arsenal (under Arsenal Wenger) and Barcelona with Pep Guardiola he learned a lot about this.
"It is a totally different thing to be a player and manager. It is not the same job. He can make a success because Titi loves football.
"He knows everything about football, the teams and the players. I am very confident for Titi."
