Fiorentina coach Stefano Pioli was pleased with the spirit shown for their 3-3 draw at Sassuolo.

The Viola turned a 3-1 disadvantage into a 3-3 draw with a last-minute goal from Kevin Mirallas.

"We showed that we wanted to fight and never give up," Pioli told DAZN after the game. "You could tell that the team didn't feel completely free in its movements and wouldn't attempt some risky plays, even when they made sense.

"Nonetheless, there is some good to be taken from this result, based on how the game developed and how we reacted. There were important signs given by the team which we can build on."

He added: "We have to work on a lot of situations and believe in what we are doing. It's just a shame that we showed this level of spirit only after we found ourselves trailing our opponents twice.

"But we have to take something substantial out of today and invest it in our future."
