Pilkington hails Wigan pals after 8-0 rout: We've been f***** over

Wigan Athletic midfielder Anthony Pilkington was proud of his teammates after their 8-0 rout of Hull City.

The Championship side hammered their relegation rivals in a one-sided display at the DW stadium on Tuesday, which saw them seven-up at the break.

While Wigan are now camped firmly in mid-table in 13th, they face an impending 12-point penalty for going into administration.

Former Hull player David Meyler questioned what his old side were doing, blasting them "unacceptable" on Twitter for "throwing in the towel".

Pilkington, a former Manchester United junior, responded: "Agreed mate not good enough but when a group of 30+ men come together to fight for each other because they feel like they've been f***** over it builds a bond strong enough to do what it takes."

The result left Latics, with two games remaining, on 57 points, 12 points clear of 22nd place - occupied by Hull, who lay a point adrift of safety.
