Philadelphia Union's Valdes set for Santa Fe move

Carlos Valdes is set to join Independiente Santa Fe on loan from Philadelphia Union.

The 27-year old Union captain is reportedly on the verge of departing PPL Park after the MLS club accepted an offer from the Colombian outfit.

Valdes is keen to continue his foray into the Colombian national team and would welcome a shift back to his former club according to comments he made on Antena 2.

"Because of the things I have done in the United States, I am very grateful to the league [MLS] and the Union," he said.

"Although the club didn't do so well, I had a great year and had the chance to get to the national team."

It is also believed that the Union received an offer from Uruguayan side Nacional regarding Valdes but it appears as though he will head home to Santa Fe who he left to join Philly in January 2011.
