Philadelphia Union closing in on Stoke's Edu, deal not yet done

Philadelphia Union technical director Chris Albright has revealed that a deal for Maurice Edu has not yet been complete.

Recent reports suggested that the Stoke City midfielder had joined the MLS club on a permanent basis but Albright says that the Union are still working on bringing him back to PPL Park.

"Mo is a player that we think very, very highly of," Albright said.

"He's a player that gives us a lot of versatility and a player that plays at the highest level. What I can say right now is I think we're close to being over the line and we look forward to getting that behind us and having Mo be a big piece for us in the foreseeable future."

Former Toronto FC and Rangers man Edu, who joined Stoke in 2012, spent the 2014 MLS season on loan with Philly where he made over 30 appearances.
