Stuart Pearce faces a battle to keep hold of his job at Nottingham Forest.
The Mirror says former Chelsea defender Dan Petrescu is one of the leading candidates to replace struggling Pearce, whose side have won just two games in their last 19 and were dumped out of the FA Cup at Rochdale on Saturday.
Petrescu, 47, had talks with Crystal Palace over their vacant managerial position in 2013 and is looking to move to England after spells in Romania, Russia and the Middle East.
This weekend's game with Sheffield Wednesday is crucial for Pearce's future with the Reds travelling to arch rivals Derby the following week.
