Peterborough rate England keeper Lewis in £4M class

Peterborough director of football Barry Fry believes that goalkeeper Joe Lewis is now worth £4million after his call-up to the England squad.

The 20-year-old became the club's record signing in January when manager Darren Ferguson shelled out £400,000 to bring him to London Road from Norwich.

But after Fabio Capello called him up to the squad to face the United States on Wednesday, becoming the first Peterborough player to be picked in a full England squad, Fry believes that his value has shot through the roof.

He said: "It's a massive honour for Joe and the club.

"It also shows what an astute signing Joe has been.

"It might have looked a lot of money at the time for a young goalkeeper, but his value has probably shot up to 10 times what we paid for him."
