Peterborough United are moving for Wolves winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing.
The Express & Star says Posh are expected to have money to spend if they sell much-wanted striker Craig Mackail-Smith, who is attracting interest from a host of clubs, having already sold Aaron McLean to Hull in January.
And keeping Mendez-Laing, who spent the last campaign on loan from Wolves, at London Road is high on the list of priorities for their return to the Championship.
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony said: "We're in talks with Wolves about signing Mendez-Laing permanently and worst case scenario on loan."
